THE GOWER RIDING CLUB

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

1. The Organiser has overall responsibility for Health and Safety.

2. The event is organised in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and all who
have (to any extent) control of premises or site at the event are responsible for
ensuring that:

    (a) Everything reasonably practical is done to ensure the health and safety and
     welfare of those attending the event.
    (b) They conduct themselves so that they do not put themselves or anyone else at
     risk.
    c) Access and egress to the event is safe.
    d) Members of the public and competitors are equally responsible for ensuring
     that they do not put other persons at risk and that they cooperate with the
     organisers in complying with health and safety legislation.

3. Emergencies:

    (a) Emergency services must have access to all parts of the event site at all times
      and members of the public must not park vehicles so as to obstruct access.
    (b) First Aid posts are clearly marked.
    (c) In case of an emergency, members of the public should contact the nearest
      official or dial 999 on the nearest telephone.

4. Horses can easily be frightened and can be dangerous. Members of the public are
 requested to keep clear from horse areas and walkways and to avoid behaviour which
 might alarm horses.  Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

5. Motorcycles are not allowed on the Club Field.


HORSE RIDING IS A RISK SPORT - COMPETITORS PARTICIPATE ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK.

CLUB RULES REQUIRE HARD HATS TO BE WORN WHEN MOUNTED.

BODY PROTECTORS ARE RECOMMENDED AND ARE COMPULSORY FOR ALL
CROSS COUNTRY COMPETITIONS.

IN ALL MATTERS OF HEALTH AND SAFETY THE DECISION OF THE SAFETY ADVISER IS
FINAL.
